The Byzantine fell in 1453 there are multiple reasons and aspects as to why such a thing happen. Byzantine experiences its first declines in power when they began falling economically, due to debt they had to tax peasants. When Basil dies around 1025 A.D they were somewhat stable assuming they didn't need a major army, so they stop developing it. This became a part of their downfall when they realized that they were being invaded by outsiders and had a insufficient army to fight with, so they begin to hire mercenaries. The money to hire them had taken its toll they soon found themselves taxing the poor more and more to support them.
Seljuk Terks attack byzantine
Seljuck terks began attacking Byzantine around 1070 A.D and they were winning numerous small battles which were becoming a major blow to the Byzantines, who were now finding themselves paying many mercenaries for the duties of fighting in war. Byzantine(A Now Weakened Army and Empire) Found itself in even more debt as they continued to try and pay mercenaries they had hired.
Battle of constantinople
A already declining Byzantine empire faced the siege of Venice as they sent crusaders to attack, Byzantine was already beat from effects of previous battles and begun losing small battles "left and right" by 1453 A.D Byzantine had fallen completely as nothing more than a artifact in history.
